About the Data
Planimetric and Topographic mapping are based on aerial photography. Every effort has been made to insure that the information offered is correct and up-to-date. Complete accuracy, however, cannot be guaranteed. End users are responsible for understanding issues related to appropriateness of map scale and accuracy. This digital data is intended for general planning purposes and is not appropriate for engineering or site planning applications.
Users are asked to report any errors or problems to the City of High Point GIS Division.
HPGIS Data is in North American State Plane Coordinate Reference System, 1983 North American Datum.
It is the intent of the City of High Point to offer viable data to the public. However, complete data integrity cannot be guaranteed. Users should be aware of the risks associated with downloading files from remote networks. They should take appropriate precautions to protect themselves from these risks.
Viewing the Data
The files available here are in ZIP format and therefore can only be accessed through the use of Winzip software. The ZIP files contain an XML format file describing the accompanying data(metadata).
The City of High Point uses GIS software by ESRI, Inc. The shapefiles may be viewed using ArcView or ArcInfo software. Users may download the free Arc Explorer software available through the ESRI Home Page to view this data as well.
AutoCAD files are viewable using ESRI products and AutoCAD software by Autodesk. The prepared maps are viewable using the Adobe suite of products.
